Khan Academy Reflection 9-29-2020

     The clip I viewed was over multiplication estimating. I thought this clip was extremely helpful for the subject. The clip did a good job explaining the subject and giving good examples. Comparing this clip to online classes I've taken it's about the same as when I did online in high school. We always watched a video clip first for the lesson and then continued the lesson through problems. Khan Academy is the same way, you watch a video clip then you continue with the problems to follow. However, I appreciate that Khan Academy offers more than one instructor to teach the lesson in different ways. Throughout my college experience with online classes, I like Khan Academy simply due to the fact it does provide some instruction. Some professors don't provide good, clear instructions for their assignments and expect you to just know what they're expecting. As a teacher the educational implications are amazing, there are so many different video options for lessons. There are also so many different courses that a teacher can use. As a learner, the educational implications are valuable seeing that they can review and practice lessons. Some students would be able to make use of the reviewing before class exams or before turning in their assignments.

Reflection on Khan Academy

      Being on both sides of Khan Academy as a student previously and currently learning to use the site as a teacher, I begin to understand the helpfulness of it. Starting Khan Academy as a student was a nightmare when we had it. There were a couple major problems that we ran into, one being the teacher I had and his philosophy on the site; the second problem being with Khan Academy, it would only allow us to do so many problems before it timed us out and stopped our progress. We essentially could only do one section per day of the week, and if you missed too many problems and didn't pass that section, it threw off the whole week's schedule. It really stressed us as students out having to stay up waiting for the timer to run out so we could do the next assignment. I remember staying up until times between 12 A.M- 4. Reflections on Google Classroom

     There are many ways to implement google classroom as a teacher. As a teacher, I plan to implement google classroom as a way to assign lessons, homework, and quizzes. It's efficient to be able to put all of these assignments into one area for students to access when needed. Also, I can use google classroom to post updates about the class. As a student, you can use google classroom to keep updated on the class and do assignments assigned by the teacher. Also, you can use the classroom to communicate with your teacher. Students may also be able to use google classroom to share work with each other during group projects so they don't have to be in person together if something like COVID-19 ever happens again. As a parent google classroom would be a beneficial tool for them to keep up with what their student is doing in class.
